Lallukka denies doping claim

Finnish cross-country skier Juha Lallukka has denied using a banned substance.

The 32-year-old, who finished in eighth place in the 50km at the World Championships in Oslo last spring, has been under a cloud since Finnish TV station YLE announced that Lallukka’s A-sample had tested positive for a forbidden growth hormone.
But his manager Juha Vanhanen told Finnish television station MTV3 that the hormone was naturally occurring in the athlete's system.
The Finnish Ski Association have confirmed that one of its skiers was under suspicion but refused to comment further.
If the secondary B-sample confirms the result, Lallukka will face a suspension.
The Finnish Olympic Committee has suspended his funding, pending further investigations.
Kari Niemi-Nikkola, the Sports Director of the Finnish Olympic Committee, said: "We have been in touch with the Finnish Ski Association and asked for further clarification. We have also approached our co-operation partners and presented our view of what has transpired."
